This is true for many reasons. Grime gets caught in the pipes and lots of hair will go down the drain due to the fact that it is in the bathroom. Many chemical drain cleaners will either ruin your pipes or only make the problem go away for a short amount of time. If you would like to be your own plumber rather than hiring professional plumbing services, here are a few tips on how to unclog your bathroom sink so that it stays unclogged for a long period of time.

The first way you can try to unclog your sink is by plunging it. This usually works fairly well if you only have a minor clog. You will want to start by filling your sink with a small amount of water in the basin. You will then take a cup plunger and put some force on it. It is very similar to plunging a toilet. After a few plunges pick up the plunger and see if the water drains. If it does then you should run some hot water for approximately five minutes just to make sure the clog is pushed all the way through. If this does not solve your problem then you probably have a more intense clog then you thought.

If plunging your bathroom sink drain did not work, then you will probably have to dismantle the P-trap. This probably sounds like quite an intense and scary job to tackle. In all actuality it is not the hardest job to tackle, but it does take time and some man power. You will first need to place a bucket underneath the pipes under the sink and then use a wrench to take apart this trap. A part of the pipe will come off and lots of water will start to leak which is why you will need the bucket. You can then clean out this part of the pipe which is called the P-trap. This pipe is probably rather dirty and smelly so be careful when cleaning it. Once it is cleaned you should then reattach it using your wrench. You will want to make sure that everything is tight so that the pipe does not leak. Once you are sure the bolts are as tight as possible you should then run hot water for a few minutes. If the water runs through the drain easily then you have solved your problem.

Of course, this is a lot of work to do yourself.
